Yogahome offers Pilates classes in a variety of styles, with teachers of different backgrounds. Our teachers vary greatly in their approach, so do try them all or contact us for advice anytime.
Pilates is a disciplined physical system which was created by German anatomist Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century. Through a series of precise, controlled movements it targets all muscle groups in the body whilst working on posture, functionality and flexibility.
Classical Pilates
Our Mat Pilates classes take place on a yoga mat, and you may use other small props like a ball, weights or resistance band.
Using small focused movements, core awareness is increased improving strength, flexibility and posture.
Teachers vary greatly in style, with some weaving in aerobic, spinal release or deep stretching movements into their classes.
Contact us anytime for guidance.
Power Pilates
Power Pilates is a mat-based class that offers a strong workout focused on core strength and fat burn.
Expect to work up a sweat, while performing traditional Pilates exercises at a dynamic, sustained pace.
This class is for all levels, but expect a strong workout with options to dial back the intensity if you need to.
Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates is done using the Pilates reformer machine, adding resistance to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs, which form part of the machine.
We offer a variety of Reformer Pilates classes for all levels of ability. Please check the descriptions below before attending the session.
Whether you are a yoga or Pilates practitioner, mixing up your routine with the Reformer machine opens new possibilities for building strength, muscle and body awareness and perfecting your posture and alignment.
Our classes host a maximum of 4 participants, providing an intimate environment and individualised attention.
If you have never attended Reformer Pilates at Yogahome before, please make sure your first session is a Level 1 class.
If you’re curious or just want to give Reformer Pilates a go, we offer a discounted rate for your first three classes. We also offer 1:1 and small group private sessions. We offer group classes (small groups, max 4 participants!) every day other than Fridays. View our schedule and filter with ‘Reformer Pilates’ to book in.
Classical Reformer Pilates
Using the Reformer you will work on building balance, alignment, core strength and muscle tone.
We offer a varied schedule of 1, 2 and All Levels Reformer Pilates classes. If you have never attended Reformer Pilates at Yogahome before, please make sure your first session is a Level 1 class so you can familiarise yourself with our machines.
Level 1: For beginners or anyone wanting to focus on key poses and principles, no experience necessary. Emphasis is on alignment, breathing and simple modifications. Level 1 classes are a great way to build up your practice from good foundations, or re-visit these foundations whenever you feel the need.
All Levels: Everyone welcome, no previous experience necessary but a minimum level of fitness and body awareness is recommended as these classes may be more physically demanding. Differing abilities are catered for and everyone is encouraged to work within their capacity.
Level 2: For students who are familiar with the machines and a range of both basic and some more advanced exercises, with good body control and wanting to go further in their practice.
POWER Reformer Pilates
A more dynamic and demanding version of our Reformer Pilates class, this session is a high intensity, but low impact, full-body workout.
Expect a greater resistance and a higher number of repetitions in a workout that promises to work on strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance whilst targeting the abs, lower back, hips and glutes.
Be ready to get sweaty and challenge your fitness level!
This class is not suitable for beginners, prenatal or rehab.
Pilates Tower Private Sessions
Perfect for private sessions, the tower is essentially a more compact version of the Pilates Cadillac (another piece of equipment -like the reformer- devised by Joseph Pilates).
The Tower is a frame with various springs, pulleys and bars attached to support or challenge Pilates exercises. It can be used by itself or as an extension to the Reformer.
Our Pilates Tower is available for private sessions most weekdays between 2pm and 6pm and on weekends after 2pm.
Whatever your goal, the Pilates Tower creates a safe, controlled and highly effective full-body workout.
If you are just starting on with the Pilates equipment, private sessions using the Tower give you the opportunity to work at your own pace and level to become familiar with the equipment and comfortable with the exercises.
If you’re an experienced practitioner or are already attending reformer classes, the one-to-one sessions on the Tower are ideal for refining your form and technique, challenging you or simply for benefitting from the undivided attention of your teacher.
If you’re recovering from injury, the Tower is highly effective for muscular and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Reformer Pilates for pregnancy is a non-impact practice and it offers a wide variety of exercises, allowing you to benefit from the exercise without stressing the body too much.
Pregnancy Reformer Pilates is ideal to strengthen the muscles of your abdomen, pelvic floor and back, to help you manage the physical and physiological changes of pregnancy and prepare for life with a little one.
With the supervision of our experienced Reformer Pilates instructors, it is safe for both you and your baby.
Clients are advised to attend only if they have previous pilates experience, at any stage of pregnancy.
Clients in their pregnancy with no previous experience are advised to take a private reformer class before attending a group class
With previous experience, clients may take part in reformer classes up until the 34th week of pregnancy.
Postnatal Reformer Pilates is a great way for new mums to reconnect with their centre, improve posture, and safely strengthen their bodies. It gets your deep core muscles working to help you initiate movement and be able to move freely in your daily life.
This class will help you move better and feel better with a focus on improving pelvic floor control, core strength, upper and lower body strength, posture, flexibility and overall wellbeing into motherhood.
Our reformer classes host a maximum of 4 participants, providing an intimate environment and individualised attention. Because spaces are limited, we highly recommend making your reservation online.
If you have any postnatal complications such as diastasis recti or have had a caesarean section we also recommend you try a private session. This can help you understand your own physical limits before going to a regular class.
*** Classes can be started soon after the birth of your baby once you have been given the all clear at your 6 week check up (12 weeks post c-section).***
