Access bars

Access Bars® are 32 points on your head that, when gently touched, effortlessly, and easily release anything that stops you from feeling joy and ease in your life.

These points contain all the thoughts, ideas, beliefs, emotions, and considerations you have stored. This is an opportunity for you to let go of everything!

How many of the following apply to you?

You’re tired all day, but when your head hits the pillow at night, your brain goes into overdrive, and you can’t sleep.
You’re constantly exhausted or high on adrenaline
You’ve tried meditation, yoga, journaling, and more – but you can’t quiet your mind for long enough to feel the benefits
You’ve tried every wellness practice on the block, and then some, and nothing seems to help you relax

Access Bars® can feel like hitting the delete button on your computer’s cluttered hard drive – only this time, you’re creating space in your brain. Things such as negative thought patterns, or that endless mental chatter keeping you awake at night, can be released and make space for the calm you’ve been seeking.

Having your ‘Bars run’ (receiving a session) is relaxing and peaceful; imagine the after-effects of a great massage or walk in nature. At worst, that’s all you’ll feel!

Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurveda is India’s traditional system of medicine. It promotes prevention and longevity and it’s the most holistic medical system that exists today. Ayurveda addresses the cause rather than the symptoms of disease, and integral to its philosophy is the importance of massage, both as a preventative and curative practice. At Yogahome we offer the below selection of Ayurvedic treatments.
Please specify the type of treatment you would like to receive when booking the appointment.

ABHYANGA – Full Body Oil Massage
Medicinal oils are applied onto the whole body using fast vigorous strokes and Marma Points therapy. Abhyanga encourages the movement of toxins from the deeper tissues and eliminates them efficiently. It can help to restore overall balance and good functioning of all the systems of the body.

AYURVEDIC DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Combines the benefits of Ayurvedic oils with deep tissue massage techniques. The heat enhances the properties of the oils and aids in reaching a higher level of relaxation. This treatment can be localised to specific areas and to help in the treatment and prevention of injuries.

SHIRO ABHYANGA – Indian Head Massage
This treatment offers a healing, rejuvenating and thoroughly stimulating experience. The head massage improves the supply of glucose and blood to the brain, dissipates the toxins and opens the channels.

AYURVEDIC PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Ayurvedic pregnancy massage works with gentle repetitive strokes and special attention to important Marma Points that can help relieve common discomforts that present during pregnancy.

AYURVEDIC POST NATAL MASSAGE
This treatment is designed to restore balance, comfort and help the mother get back into shape after giving birth. Ayurvedic oils are used to help bring back tone and elasticity to the skin and flexibility to the muscle tissues.

Therapist: Ilaria Bucchieri

CHAVUTTI THIRUMAL

It is suitable for anyone as the pressure can be deep but is completely controlled.

Chavutti feels like no other massage, it is powerful yet surprisingly fluid and smooth.

Please note that the minimum time for this massage is 90 minutes.

Therapist: Karina Messer

Deep tissue / sports massage

Deep tissue work is especially useful for treating imbalances, pain and tension caused by the overworking of certain muscle groups.

It is also highly effective in addressing problems such as RSI, tendonitis, and sport-related tension.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian Head massage is a gentle yet powerful treatment that combines massage and acupressure techniques to the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp, and face. During a session, our massage therapists will use specialist massage techniques to relieve muscle tension and relax the connective tissues. Indian head massage has many mental and physical health benefits, as well as being a great way to unwind and treat yourself or a loved one to some self-care.

This is a fully-clothed treatment and can be performed on a chair or on a massage table.

This is an Express Therapy and lasts 30 minutes as a stand alone treatment, but it can be combined to deep tissue massages.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

MLD is an advanced therapy that targets the Lymphatic Vessels and “speaks” directly to the Nervous system. A range of specialised and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques are used to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels, increasing the flow of lymph, which carry substances that are vital for the defence of the body and removes waste products.

It aids the detoxifying, decongesting processes helping the body to reduce inflammation. It is also a useful treatment for those who are highly stressed out or experience anxiety, as it is deeply relaxing!

MLD has been found to be an effective treatment that can help the body deal with recurring infections and can be used to treat a variety of conditions including: low Immune System, headaches and migraines, sinusitis, Carpal Tunnel, IBS, MS, ME, muscular and joint pain, hayfever and asthma, recovery from injuries, and surgery.

Therapist: Florentina Lam-Clark and Ilaria Bucchieri

Myofascial release

Myofascial Release is a hands on therapy focusing on soft tissue dysfunction, pain and holding patterns. It is a non invasive treatment that involves gentle sustained pressure and aims at stimulating the body self healing mechanism. MFR has to do with fluid dynamics. Our bodies are 75% fluid.

The release feels like a melting or yielding sensation because the sustained pressure allows the dehydration of the ground substance in the fascia to soften, to become more fluid and in turn glide properly. The minimum time needed for the tissues to begin to rearrange themselves is approximately 90 to 120 seconds.

The therapist looks and feels for areas of restriction aiming to find the origin of the discomfort and release it. Then works with creating balance and restoring function. Each session offers a unique treatment.

MFR can be performed as a stand alone treatment or incorporated in a sport and remedial massage or therapeutic massage session. The technique does not need to be applied to every area of the body in one session because it will in any case have beneficial effects on the whole body. MFR is also very effective in releasing restrictions and adhesions caused by scars, both new ones and old ones.

Therapist/s: Ilaria Bucchieri and Zoe Laskowski

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing Japanese healing therapy, working with vital energy or “ki” that flows through your body.

It can help us recover our life force and help us feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Signs of trapped or unavailable life force are symptoms that won’t go away, feeling unmotivated or fed up with your job or relationships and wanting something to change.

As things begin to shift you may feel in better health, more joyful, creative and confident. The world can quite literally look clearer and brighter.

Shiatsu is your own private healing session and can also play a nurturing role in your Yoga and Pilates practice.

You will need to wear warm comfortable clothing with socks and loose trousers.

You will lie comfortably on your back, side or front on a shiatsu futon as you are stretched and specific points are worked using thumbs, palms and even feet.

It can be gentle, or sometimes dynamic, but always relaxing.

The most common issues that people bring to a session are: stress, sciatica, back pain, migraine, fatigue, anxiety, depression, PMS, sports injuries, digestive disorders, insomnia and asthma.

Therapist: Caroline Bozkurt and Kitt Price

THAI FUSION

Thai Fusion Massage, combines Thai and oils-based deep tissue work on the back and shoulders to address any chronic muscle tension and balance the effects of contemporary life. Designed to promote energy flow, ease and freedom of movement. As well as stimulation of the inherent self-healing and regenerating capacities of the body through improved circulation, range of movement, postural alignment and deep relaxation.

Techniques include gentle applied yoga stretches, static compression, acupressure and effleurage. A grounding and affirming experience, performed on a futon style mat for effective and safe transmission of the practitioner’s body weight to the client’s preferred pressure. Mainly applied through clothing, massage will follow the ‘sen lines’ (Thai energy channels with crossovers with Chinese and Western understandings of physiology) with the option of working with oils-based deep tissue techniques on the back and shoulders to effectively treat the contemporary urban dweller’s congestion areas.

Please wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement.

Therapist: Joelle Green

Thai yoga massage

Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient healing art that has been an integral part of traditional Thai medicine, related to Tui Na (Chinese), Ayurvedic (Indian) and Shiatsu (Japanese) massage.

It is based on the concept of ten sen, an energy system through which the body’s life force flows.

The massage releases blocked energy, and frees the body’s natural healing potential, thus restoring balance, health and harmony.

The therapist applies a combination of acupressure, gentle rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations and assisted yoga stretches, using body-weight instead of strength, in a steady and meditative rhythm.

Thai Yoga Massage is done on a firm futon on the floor with the recipient dressed in light clothes.

Therapist: Emanuela Celletti

TUINA massage

Rooted in over 5,000 years of Chinese tradition, TuiNa stands as a therapeutic massage technique pivotal to Chinese Medicine. Together with Acupuncture, Qi Gong, and Chinese Herbal Medicine, it forms the quartet of major Chinese therapeutic practices. TuiNa not only enhances blood circulation and overall well-being but also alleviates pain and harmonizes the mind and body.

TuiNa’s versatility shines as it is typically administered with the patient fully clothed. Its comprehensive approach lends itself to effectively addressing a spectrum of health concerns. This includes issues related to the locomotory system, encompassing bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Beyond that, TuiNa has demonstrated efficacy in managing both chronic and acute conditions of the digestive, reproductive, and respiratory systems.

Zheng Gu, translating to “Correct Bone,” delves into the specialized mobilization techniques inherent in TuiNa. These methods are adept at rapidly reinstating normal bodily functions and realigning one’s posture and physical balance. While Zheng Gu may seem reminiscent of chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments, it distinguishes itself by encompassing manipulations of joints as well as their surrounding tissues, including muscles and fascia.

Zero balancing

This unique bodywork is the perfect integration between the structure and the energy fields of the body. Tensions can reside quite deep in the body and leave a memory of past injuries or emotional events that are often “buried” in the layers of connective tissue, muscle, organs right through to the bone. More simply, it can just be the daily habitual patterns of movement or accumulation of stress that create tension and discomfort in the body. The focus of attention is therefore on the densest form of matter , the skeletal system. Engaging the energy of it by applying fulcrums (held stretches) along points of tension can help to release tension that is old or new.

The treatment involves light traction that helps ease out tension and aids a more efficient alignment in the body. To receive a treatment is to feel the clarity of touch and connection that encourages the body to release aches, pains and stiffness in a gentle way. Some wonderful work around the head and neck fulcrums help to clear deeply held stiffness and increase range of movement.

There are times when we can feel off-kilter, Zero Balancing is a whole body treatment in that it is useful to aid the balance of mind and emotions. The effects permeate through to all levels of being and so it can be beneficial whether the cause is physical, mental or emotional.

HEALTH

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient therapeutic method wherein exceptionally fine needles are precisely placed at specific points on the body to promote healing. Originating in China thousands of years ago and practiced across various Asian cultures, acupuncture is founded on the principles of Eastern medicine. These principles hold that health and healing are achieved by maintaining a harmonious flow of Qi (energy) and blood circulation, which acupuncture helps to balance by addressing blockages within the body.

Acupuncture can stand alone as an effective treatment or complement other modalities like TuiNa, Moxibustion, Cupping, and Herbal therapies. Notably, the World Health Organization (WHO) endorses acupuncture for addressing:

  • Sports and Movement Concerns
  • Musculoskeletal Pain
  • Chronic Pain Conditions
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Menstrual and Reproductive Concerns
  • Urinary Issues
  • Respiratory Complications
  • Stress and Mental Health

***All initial appointments for this treatment are a minimum of 90 minutes, as they require a longer consultation.***

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a specialised complementary therapy which uses naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants, flowers, fruits, leafs and seeds to balance and harmonise the body at all levels – physical, emotional and spiritual.

Essential oils are specially prepared to suit the client’s profile and needs, and massaged into the body.

This process stimulates the release of beneficial chemicals within the body responsible for healing various imbalances.

Therapist: Florentina Lam-Clark

CUPPING - 30 minutes

Originating from Chinese medicine with ancient roots, cupping therapy involves placing cups on the body to enhance both muscle and meridian well-being.

Cupping is a painless therapy lasting 10 to 20 minutes and it works on both the muscles and the meridians of the body. It is especially effective when used to help relieve acute and chronic pain. It’s also a short stand-alone treatment. It works as a deep tissue massage increasing blood circulation and removing toxins like lactic acid from the affected area of the body. It also activates the immune system, stimulating the natural healing process of the body.

After a cupping treatment, it is common to observe some marks or bruising, which may remain for some days. This is indicative of an effective treatment.

Cupping can help with all muscular and joint issues around the body and helps manage anxiety and stress.

This is an Express Therapy and lasts 30 minutes as a stand alone treatment.

HERBAL MEDICINE

Throughout millennia, herbs have played a pivotal role in addressing a range of health issues, both acute and chronic. Herbal formulas, imbued with diverse and potent properties, come in various forms including teas, powders, pills, and tinctures. Each formula is meticulously tailored, with adjustments in both dosage and ingredients, to meet individual health needs. When used correctly, herbal therapy presents a safe avenue for tackling intricate health challenges.

Herbs excel in recalibrating the body’s innate patterns of well-being, a state termed ‘homeostasis’. They offer therapeutic interventions for a myriad of concerns: from flu symptoms, respiratory challenges, and digestive complications to sleep disturbances, fertility issues, and mental health concerns such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, they provide relief in areas like pain management, autoimmune disorders, and menstrual irregularities.

Often, the path to optimal health integrates multiple healing modalities. While herbs are powerful, synergising them with dietary changes, acupuncture, and massage can amplify their efficacy. This multi-modality strategy ensures comprehensive care.

Additionally, for those seeking targeted guidance, we provide dedicated digital and live herbal consultations.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a system of natural health-care, originally developed by Dr John Thie based on concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine (5 Elements) and modern-day chiropractic.

Muscle response monitoring (kinesiology) allows the body’s intelligence to direct each session. Balancing the flow of life-force energy (chi) allows our innate healing powers to naturally restore harmony to our bodies, increasing health, vitality and emotional wellbeing.

The power of this modality to facilitate change, in mind, body and spirit is enhanced by establishing a specific goal for each session.

Reiki healing

Reiki & Seichem healing is a gentle and tranquil full body treatment that is received fully clothed, lying down on a treatment table. It involves hands on or off the body to transmit and channel the healing vibrational energy that works on the physical and subtle energy fields of the body. It can be felt as warm, sometimes cool, radiating, tingling and calming energy.

The frequency and vibration of the energy allows the mind to slow down and relax, moving from sympathetic nervous system dominance to the relax, rest and replenish aspect of the parasympathetic nervous system, thus initiating the innate healing system in the body. With such a deep relaxation response and calming effect, Reiki Seichem can help to alleviate pain, tight tense muscles and release mental and emotional stress. To receive a treatment is to take time out to stop, rest and recalibrate on a level that harmonises mind, body and spirit.

Therapist: Florentina Lam-Clark

Reflexology

It works effectively on a variety of levels and is deeply relaxing.

It can energise, boost the immune system, improve circulation, help with detoxification and elimination, balance hormones, rebalance the body and strengthens body function.
